2024 March Madness championship live updates: UConn vs. Purdue

A March relatively devoid of madness compared to recent years means the last two teams standing were arguably the two best throughout the entire season — defending champion UConn and Zach Edey-led Purdue.

No. 1 overall seed UConn is looking to put a bow on a historic season by becoming the first team since Florida (2006-07) to win back-to-back national titles. Purdue is looking for the ultimate redemption after becoming the second No. 1 seed in the history of the men’s tournament to lose to a No. 16 seed in the first round last year. The first team to do so, 2018 Virginia, also rebounded to win the national title the following year.

UConn boasts the deepest roster in the sport, with plenty of game-changing talent, but all eyes turn towards 7-foot-tall center Donovan Clingan on Monday as he will be tasked with stopping the 7-foot-4 Edey, who just won his second straight Naismith Men’s Player of the Year award.
