Dream’s Tina Charles breaks WNBA’s all-time rebounds record

Atlanta Dream center Tina Charles became the WNBA’s all-time leader in rebounds, grabbing her record-breaking 4,007th board in the first quarter of Thursday night’s game against the New York Liberty.

Charles, who entered the night needing three rebounds to pass Sylvia Fowles, got the record when she snagged an offensive board with 6:47 left in the opening quarter.

Charles is coming off a 16-point, 14-rebound performance on Tuesday night against Chicago Sky, tying the WNBA record with her 193rd career double-double.

Charles is the only WNBA player with 7,000 points and 4,000 rebounds in her career. She is averaging 15.0 points and 9.6 rebounds per game this season.
