Billy Crystal, Paris Hilton and More Celebrities Lose Homes in California Fires

The deadly wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles this week have displaced entire communities, destroyed thousands of structures and burned the homes of some of the region’s best-known residents.

The list of actors, musicians and other Hollywood fixtures whose homes have been damaged or lost to the fires continues to grow by the day, with many sharing the devastating details on social media.

  • Billy Crystal and his wife, Janice, lost their home in the fires that ravaged Pacific Palisades, saying in a statement on Thursday that words could not describe the tragedy they were experiencing.

“Janice and I lived in our home since 1979,” the couple said. “We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away. We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this.”

  • Paris Hilton said she saw her home in Malibu burning to the ground while watching live TV. “This home was where we built so many precious memories,” she said in a post on Instagram. She added, “While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family and pets are safe.”

  • Mel Gibson, the actor and director, said on “NewsNation” that he was in Austin, Texas appearing on “The Joe Rogan Experience” when the fire broke out. “I was kind of ill at ease while we were talking because I knew my neighborhood was on fire,” he said. When he returned, he said, he found his home reduced to ashes. “I had never see a place to perfectly burnt,” he said.

  • Cameron Mathison, an actor who has starred in soap operas, was among the residents who had regained access to his home. He shared a video of the destruction. “This is what’s left of our beautiful home,” he captioned the video. “Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday.”
