Chicago Cubs right-hander Shota Imanaga combined with two relievers to no-hit the Pittsburgh Pirates in an 11-0 win Wednesday night.
Imanaga tossed seven no-hit innings before turning the game over to Nate Pearson in the eighth and Porter Hodge in the ninth for the fourth no-hitter of the MLB season.
The other no-hitters this season were accomplished by San Francisco Giants lefty Blake Snell against the Cincinnati Reds on Aug. 2, San Diego Padres right-hander Dylan Cease against the Washington Nationals on July 25 and Houston Astros right-hander Ronel Blanco against the Toronto Blue Jays on April 1.
It was the Cubs’ first no-hitter since June 24, 2021, when Zach Davies and combined with four relievers to no-hit the Los Angeles Dodgers.
