The Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James as the No. 55 overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft on Thursday.
Bronny suffered cardiac arrest during a workout in July 2023 and didn’t make his college debut with the USC Trojans until December 10. He averaged 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 26 games at USC.
Bronny joins his father, LeBron James, in the NBA and potentially as teammates on the Lakers, if the four-time NBA champion decides to return to the franchise for his 22nd NBA season.
Bronny’s selection to the Lakers marks the 52nd instance of a father and son being drafted in the modern draft era (since 1966), according to ESPN Stats & Information.
