LeBron James reportedly re-signs with Lakers on 2-year max deal

LeBron James has re-signed with the Los Angeles Lakers on a two-year deal worth $104 million, ESPN reported Wednesday. James’ deal has a player option for the 2025-26 season and a no-trade clause.

James will play with his oldest son, Bronny James, whom the Lakers drafted with the No. 55 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft last month.

LeBron James opted out of his player option worth $51.4 million earlier this month. Under the new deal, James will net $50 million this season, $54 million next season, and $58 million in his age 41 season. The contract length represents the maximum the team could offer James, as he’s over 38 years old.

The 39-year-old James averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds per game with L.A. last season. He was reportedly not involved in L.A.’s coaching search, and spoke to new Lakers head coach JJ Redick only after the deal was completed.
