Ronald Acuña Jr. out for season with torn ACL

Ronald Acuña Jr., the reigning National League MVP, suffered a “complete tear” of the ACL in his left knee, the Atlanta Braves announced Sunday evening.

Acuña crumpled to the ground while attempting to steal third base in the first inning of the Braves’ win versus the Pirates on Sunday. He exited the game with left knee soreness while awaiting results of an MRI. That exam confirmed the worst: a second torn ACL for one of baseball’s brightest stars.

This is a developing story.
