‘Where Is Wendy Williams?’: 5 Takeaways From the Documentary

At one point during the documentary, her manager, Will Selby, came into her bedroom, held up an empty vodka bottle and asked, “Did you drink this all today?” Williams initially answered, “Yes,” but then quickly said “No.” At several points in the documentary, camera crews showed up to her house, but Williams was too hung over or drunk to film, according to her manager.

In 2022, Williams’s bank, Wells Fargo, froze her accounts amid questions about large withdrawals and filed a petition for a temporary financial guardianship. In the documentary, Hunter Jr., 23, says he took money out of Williams’s account only with her knowledge, and Williams says in the documentary that she wants to share her money with her son.

Finnie, her nephew, said Williams happily gave money to her son, spending $120,000 on his birthday party and contributing $80,000 to his rent, among other expenses.

In the documentary, we see Williams selling her clothes to resale websites in an attempt to make money.

Toward the end of the documentary’s filming, the cameras showed Selby, Williams’s manager, calling her and asking where she is. He discovered that her publicist, Shawn Zanotti, had bought Williams a plane ticket to Los Angeles.

Once cameras joined them in L.A., Zanotti and Williams told the filmmakers that they held meetings about making a new show for NBC Universal. No show was made, and NBC declined the documentary producers’ request for comment.
