Warriors’ Steve Kerr becomes highest-paid coach in NBA history with two-year, $35 million contract extension

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has agreed to a two-year, $35 million contract extension that will make him the highest-paid coach in league history, according to a report from ESPN on Friday.

Kerr’s deal was set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra is the second-highest paid coach in the NBA after agreeing to an eight-year, $120 million-plus contract extension in January.

Kerr, a five-time NBA champion as a player with the Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs, was hired as the Warriors’ head coach in 2014. Since then, he’s led the Warriors to fix NBA Finals appearances and four championships, including back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018.

The Warriors are currently the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference with a 28-26 record.
